President-elect Donald Trump leveraged the tragic New Orleans terrorist attack, which left 15 dead, to renew his criticisms of the U.S. Justice Department and immigration policies.

Trump Blames Justice System and Immigration for Crime

The attack, carried out by a U.S. citizen from Texas and former Army member, led Trump to claim immigrant criminals are “far worse” than domestic offenders. Despite the attacker’s American citizenship, Trump turned his critique toward the Justice Department, FBI, and Democrats, accusing them of focusing on legal actions against him rather than addressing crime.

In a late-night statement, Trump declared:

“They are incompetent and corrupt, having spent all of their waking hours unlawfully attacking their political opponent, ME, rather than focusing on protecting Americans from the outside and inside violent SCUM.”

He further called for the CIA’s involvement in addressing what he described as systemic infiltration of violent elements into the government and nation.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Speaks Out

As Trump’s re-inauguration approaches in less than three weeks, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a warning against defying Supreme Court rulings. This comes amid growing political divisions and debates over immigration policies, which are central to Trump’s agenda.

Immigration Policies Tighten

The incoming administration is preparing to enact stricter immigration measures, including the deportation of undocumented immigrants and those with temporary protected status. Meanwhile, Democratic-led cities continue to struggle with providing housing and support for asylum seekers.

Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Celebration

On New Year’s Eve, Trump celebrated at his Mar-a-Lago resort alongside Vice President-elect JD Vance and tech mogul Elon Musk. The event marked a symbolic start to the new administration’s hardline approach to governance.
