Netanyahu rejects calls for a cease-fire

Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, live on MSNBC.

In a recent news conference held today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly rejected calls for an immediate cease-fire and reiterated Israel’s primary objective of dismantling Hamas. He highlighted the release of a hostage today as a significant moment in the ongoing conflict, underlining that Israel had not initiated the war and had no desire for it, but remained committed to achieving victory.

Netanyahu asserted that Israel would persist in its battle until successful, urging other nations to stand in solidarity with Israel. He emphasized the importance of immediate hostage releases by Hamas, deeming it unacceptable to grant immunity to terrorists. Netanyahu emphasized the far-reaching consequences if the fight were to be abandoned, stating that it would not only affect the future of his country but could have global repercussions.

He concluded by framing the conflict by saying: “We cannot give immunity to these terrorists. We cannot give up the fight because this will have disastrous consequences not only for the future of my country [but for the world],”. “This is a battle of civilization against barbarians. The future of our civilization is at stake.”
