Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized in Luxembourg after sustaining an injury during an official engagement, according to her spokesperson, Ian Krager.

In a statement, Krager explained that Pelosi “sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation.”

The California Democrat, who played a pivotal role in Congress for decades, is “receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.” Despite her condition, Pelosi “continues to work” and expressed regret for missing the remainder of the official engagements. These events were intended to commemorate the courage of American servicemembers during the historic Battle of the Bulge, which is celebrated as a defining act of heroism in U.S. history.

Pelosi’s Legacy as a Congressional Leader

Although Pelosi stepped down as House Democratic leader in 2023 following the Republican takeover of the House, she remains a prominent figure in the Democratic Party. Pelosi is widely regarded as one of the most effective vote counters in modern U.S. congressional history.

Her two tenures as Speaker of the House cemented her reputation for navigating complex legislative battles and advancing key Democratic policies.

Pelosi’s Recent Election Victory

At 84 years old, Pelosi continues to serve as a representative for her San Francisco district, winning reelection in November by a substantial margin. Her influence within the Democratic conference endures, underscoring her long-standing commitment to public service.
