Motorcade Crash in Milwaukee

On Monday, several cars in a motorcade carrying Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz were involved in a crash while en route from the airport to a campaign event in Milwaukee. Walz, who was riding in a vehicle at the front of the motorcade, was unharmed.

Injuries Reported

The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time and affected vehicles near the back of the motorcade. A member of Walz’s traveling staff, who was riding in a van with reporters, sustained injuries and was treated by medics on the scene. The van was “violently thrown forward,” leading to the injuries, though others inside appeared to be shaken but unharmed.

Walz Addresses the Incident

Tim Walz addressed the crash at the start of his Laborfest remarks later that day, expressing relief that everyone involved was okay. He also took the opportunity to thank the first responders and Secret Service for their quick reaction and assistance.

Circumstances of the Crash

It remains unclear what caused the crash. The incident occurred after Walz and his wife, Gwen, were greeted at the airport by Wisconsin Representative Gwen Moore. The campaign stop was part of Walz’s first trip aboard the Harris-Walz campaign aircraft, which features prominent decals and the campaign slogan “A New Way Forward.”
