Former President Donald Trump has stated that he is willing to testify in any of the four criminal probes he is currently facing. During an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump expressed his willingness to take the witness stand.
“Oh, yes, absolutely. That, I would do. … I look forward to testifying. At trial, I’ll testify,” Trump affirmed.
This statement comes after Trump had hinted at testifying back in July, before he was indicted at the federal level for alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
In a July post on his Truth Social platform, Trump had alluded to the idea of testifying, writing, “We’ll have fun on the stand with all of these people that say the Presidential Election wasn’t Rigged and Stollen. THE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY!!!”
Trump made history as the first former president to face criminal charges when he was indicted by a New York grand jury in March. The charges stem from his alleged involvement in a scheme to pay hush money to a porn star during the 2016 presidential campaign. Subsequently, Trump has faced three more indictments, two of which were at the federal level. Throughout these cases, Trump has consistently maintained his innocence.
However, during Wednesday’s interview, Trump declined to comment on how he would respond when asked whether he had ordered anyone to move boxes in the classified documents case, stating, “I’m not answering that question for you, but I’m totally covered under the law.”
