Former President Donald Trump has signaled his openness to selecting a female running mate for the 2024 presidential election. In an interview with NBC’s “Meet The Press” host Kristen Welker, Trump expressed his interest in the concept but emphasized that the ultimate choice would be based on qualifications rather than gender.

While Trump hasn’t made a firm decision yet, he spoke favorably about South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who recently endorsed him and joined him at a fundraising event in her home state. Trump praised Noem as “fantastic” and mentioned her as a potential candidate.

Another prominent figure in the running is Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador who was nominated by Trump. As Trump explores his options, both male and female presidential candidates are under consideration for the role of running mate.

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, a staunch Trump supporter, has publicly pledged to pardon the former president if elected. While Trump has shown interest in Ramaswamy as a potential running mate, Ramaswamy has stated that he’s not interested in the position.

South Carolina Senator Tim Scott’s refusal to criticize Trump has led to speculation that he might be open to joining Trump’s 2024 presidential ticket.

The relationship between Trump and his former vice president, Mike Pence, has become increasingly contentious during recent campaign appearances. This friction appears to have ruled out Pence as a potential running mate for Trump in 2024.

As the 2024 presidential race begins to take shape, Trump’s consideration of a female running mate introduces an element of anticipation and uncertainty into the political landscape.
