The United States has actively encouraged Israel to reinstate communications in Gaza, following their interruption on Friday night during the initial phase of the IDF’s ground incursion into the region, as reported by the Washington Post. According to a US official, Israel did not provide a specific reason for this communication shutdown.

US Intervention

The US official conveyed that they had conveyed a clear message to Israel regarding the necessity of reestablishing communication. Subsequently, communications were indeed restored, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this vital link. However, there have been reports in Palestinian media indicating that some communications in northern Gaza had once again ceased functioning late on Sunday.

This development reflects the delicate situation in Gaza, where ongoing military operations and communication disruptions pose significant challenges and concerns. The role of external actors, such as the United States, in urging for the restoration of communication in this context underscores the international community’s engagement in the evolving situation.
