The United Auto Workers (UAW), a significant union that has not yet endorsed President Joe Biden for the 2024 reelection bid, is expected to deliberate on the matter during a conference beginning this weekend. Despite the administration’s pro-union actions and Biden’s previous support for auto workers during strikes, the UAW, along with a few other major national unions, has remained neutral in endorsing any candidate. The union’s influence is particularly crucial among blue-collar voters in key swing states, notably Michigan. The upcoming lobbying conference in Washington, starting on Sunday and extending through Wednesday, will include workshops, legislative efforts on Capitol Hill, and a reception with lawmakers on Tuesday. While reports suggest that the UAW is likely to endorse Biden, both the union and the Biden campaign have not officially commented on the matter. Former President Donald Trump has also sought support from UAW members, but UAW President Shawn Fain has indicated reluctance to endorse him, especially after Trump’s appearance at a non-union facility during a strike in Detroit.
