Zelenskiy to Attend High-Level Brussels Meeting on Ukraine Support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is set to meet with leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, NATO, and the European Union in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss ongoing support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia, according to sources familiar with the plans.

Meeting Context
The gathering comes as European countries consider strategies to support Ukraine in the face of potential changes in U.S. policy under President-elect Donald Trump, who will assume office in January. The U.S. has been Ukraine’s largest source of military and financial assistance, and any shift in American policy could significantly impact the conflict’s trajectory.

Focus on Future Strategies
While the meeting is not expected to yield immediate, concrete decisions, it will serve as a platform for discussing political and strategic plans for the coming weeks and months. “It won’t be a meeting that has concrete decisions, but more political,” a source noted.

Zelenskiy and some European allies have reportedly advocated for the deployment of European troops in Ukraine as a deterrent to further Russian aggression following any potential ceasefire.

Event Coordination
The meeting, hosted by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, will coincide with the EU-Western Balkans summit already scheduled for the same day in Brussels. It will feature a combination of joint sessions and bilateral discussions involving Zelenskiy and European leaders.

This high-level engagement underscores the critical importance of continued international support for Ukraine as it navigates the challenges of the ongoing conflict with Russia.
