Zaluzhny Declares World War III Has Begun

Former Ukrainian military chief Valery Zaluzhny has claimed that the Ukraine war has escalated into a global conflict. Speaking at the Ukrainska Pravda’s UP100 awards, Zaluzhny pointed to the involvement of Russia’s allies, such as North Korea and Iran, as evidence of the broader nature of the conflict.

2. Involvement of Foreign Forces and Weapons

Zaluzhny highlighted the increasing presence of foreign entities in the conflict. He pointed to North Korean soldiers and Iranian drones targeting Ukrainian civilians. Additionally, he alleged the use of Chinese and North Korean weaponry in the war, further expanding its scope beyond a regional battle.

3. A Call for Allied Support

In his address, Zaluzhny stressed the urgency for Ukraine’s allies to intensify their support. He warned that the war could still be contained within Ukraine’s borders if allies acted decisively, but cautioned that Ukraine’s mounting enemies might make this increasingly difficult without stronger international backing.

4. A History of Tensions with Zelenskyy

Zaluzhny’s outspoken stance aligns with previous tensions between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Fired in February after differences over war strategy and political dynamics, Zaluzhny was credited with initial military successes but criticized for setbacks in recent counteroffensives.

5. The Broader Implications for Global Security

As the war continues into its third year, Zaluzhny’s warnings underscore the global stakes. Analysts fear that without stronger intervention, the conflict could destabilize international security, particularly as NATO allies and adversaries remain deeply involved.
