Trump Warns Iran Amid Houthi Attacks, Orders Strikes on Yemen

U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on Iran, holding it responsible for Houthi attacks in Yemen. His administration launched multiple airstrikes over the weekend, escalating tensions in the region. The situation raises concerns about potential military conflict and its impact on global security.

Trump Warns Iran Over Houthi Attacks

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran, stating that any attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels would be considered direct actions by Iran. His comments come after increased Houthi aggression in the Red Sea, where they have targeted commercial and Israeli vessels.

Trump Orders Airstrikes Against Houthis

Over the weekend, Trump ordered the U.S. military to conduct intense airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. The attacks spanned 24 hours, with an estimated 47 aerial strikes hitting seven provinces, including the capital Sanaa. Around 53 people were reportedly killed in the bombings.

Iran’s Role and U.S. Concerns

The U.S. and its allies have long accused Iran of arming and supporting the Houthis, an allegation Tehran denies. The Houthis, backed by Iran, have been involved in Red Sea conflicts, targeting ships in response to Israel’s blockade of Gaza. Trump’s latest warning signals a shift toward holding Iran directly accountable for Houthi actions.

Nuclear Tensions Between U.S. and Iran

Trump’s warning comes amid ongoing tensions over Iran’s nuclear program. Earlier this month, he sent a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warning of possible military action if a new nuclear agreement is not reached. However, Khamenei has dismissed negotiations, citing Trump’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal.

Houthis Pledge Retaliation Against U.S. Strikes

Following the U.S. airstrikes, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi vowed to escalate attacks in response. The group has already claimed responsibility for a retaliatory strike against a U.S. naval vessel. This raises concerns about a prolonged military conflict in the region.

Strategic Implications of Trump’s Approach

Despite previously advocating for reducing U.S. involvement in the Middle East, Trump’s recent actions suggest a shift in strategy. Experts believe his military response may be aimed at pressuring Iran into nuclear negotiations. The effectiveness of this approach remains uncertain.
