President Donald Trump has declared his support for Tesla and Elon Musk, announcing plans to buy a brand-new Tesla as a show of confidence in the company. The statement came in a series of late-night Truth Social posts on Monday, where Trump praised Musk’s efforts to reduce the federal government while condemning alleged boycotts against Tesla.
“Elon is putting it on the line to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote, blaming ‘Radical Left Lunatics’ for attempting to undermine Tesla and its billionaire CEO.
Tesla Faces Declining Sales and Public Backlash
Tesla’s stock price initially surged following Trump’s election victory but has since faced sharp declines amid falling sales and rising political tensions. Critics point to Musk’s close alignment with Trump’s government-cutting agenda as a key factor in the backlash.
Recent weeks have seen a wave of anti-Tesla protests, including:
- Vandalism of Tesla vehicles and stores.
- Gunfire at a dealership in Oregon.
- Hundreds of demonstrators storming a Tesla showroom in Manhattan.
Despite the turmoil, Trump confirmed his Tesla purchase would happen Tuesday morning. Musk responded with a post on X (formerly Twitter), thanking Trump for his endorsement.
Trump Threatens Canada Over Electricity Tariffs
In another Truth Social post, Trump lashed out at Ontario, Canada, for imposing a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to the U.S. Calling the move illegal, he vowed retaliation.
“Because our Tariffs are reciprocal, we’ll just get it all back on April 2,” Trump wrote. “We don’t need your Cars, we don’t need your Lumber, we don’t need your Energy, and very soon, you will find that out.”
Trump Targets Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie
Trump also turned his attention to Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who has opposed Republican spending plans. Comparing him to Liz Cheney, Trump called for a primary challenge against Massie.
“Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic ‘NO’ vote on just about everything,” Trump wrote. “HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED … DO I HAVE ANY TAKERS???”
