On Monday, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was notably absent from the court session without any explanation provided. Chief Justice John Roberts announced Thomas’ absence, stating that he would still participate in the day’s cases based on the briefs and transcripts of the arguments. Thomas, 75, did not participate remotely in arguments, a practice sometimes employed by justices when they are unable to attend in person due to illness or other reasons.

This absence marks a departure from Thomas’ usual presence on the bench. Although the court occasionally announces when a justice is unable to attend due to illness, no such announcement was made in this case. Thomas, the longest-serving current justice, has been on the Supreme Court since 1991.

This incident raises questions about Thomas’ health and the potential implications for ongoing court proceedings. However, it’s important to note that Thomas has previously faced health issues, including a hospitalization two years ago due to an infection, during which he continued to participate in court cases.

As of now, no further information has been provided regarding the reason for Thomas’ absence from the court session.”
