Fox News Media and UNIVISION have announced that Stuart Varney and Dana Perino from Fox News, along with UNIVISION’s Ilia Calderón, will co-moderate the second Republican debate. The event is scheduled to take place on September 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. The debate will be broadcast on FOX Business Network (FBN) and UNIVISION.
As of now, seven candidates have qualified for the debate, including former President Donald Trump. However, Trump has indicated that he is unlikely to attend the first two debates.
The choice of moderators provides insights into the focus and themes of the upcoming debate. Stuart Varney, a host on Fox Business Network, is known for his emphasis on economic policy and private industry matters. Dana Perino, who served as press secretary for President George W. Bush, co-anchors America’s Newsroom and The Five on Fox News. The Five is a primetime show that delves into culture and political issues. Ilia Calderón, an accomplished Afro-Latina anchor, currently co-anchors UNIVISION’s flagship evening newscast, NOTICIERO UNIVISION.
The debate is scheduled to air from 9 pm to 11 pm on both Fox Business News and Fox News Channel. It will also be simulcast on Fox Nation for online viewers. Additionally, the debate will be exclusively broadcast in Spanish on UNIVISION.
The selection of moderators from different media backgrounds suggests a diverse range of topics and perspectives for the candidates to address. The debate’s staging at the iconic Ronald Reagan Presidential Library adds historical significance to the event. As the date approaches, anticipation is growing among both political observers and the candidates themselves.
