President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Devin Nunes, CEO of Truth Social and former Republican congressman, to chair the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board. This independent body within the Executive Office oversees the U.S. intelligence community’s adherence to constitutional standards.
Nunes, who currently leads Trump Media & Technology Group, will maintain his position at the public company valued at nearly $8 billion. Trump himself is the largest shareholder, holding approximately 115 million shares worth an estimated $4.2 billion. Nunes’ appointment strengthens the ties between Trump Media and the incoming administration.
“Devin will draw on his experience … and his key role in exposing the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, to provide me with independent assessments of the effectiveness and propriety of the U.S. Intelligence Community’s activities,” Trump stated on Truth Social.
Devin Nunes’ Background and Key Role
Nunes previously served as a Republican lawmaker from California, where he chaired the House Intelligence Committee. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in various high-profile investigations and garnered praise from Trump for challenging narratives surrounding Russian interference in U.S. elections.
As chair of the Intelligence Advisory Board, Nunes will oversee and assess intelligence operations. According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the board has access to all necessary information and a direct line to the president.
Ties Between Trump Media and the Administration
Nunes’ ongoing leadership of Trump Media adds another dimension to the relationship between the platform and the incoming administration. Key figures within Trump Media’s board include Linda McMahon, Trump’s nominee for Education Secretary, and Kash Patel, selected to lead the FBI. Donald Trump Jr. also serves on the board.
Strategic Implications
Nunes’ appointment reflects Trump’s strategy of selecting trusted allies for influential roles. With Nunes’ extensive background in intelligence and media leadership, he is expected to provide critical insights into the intelligence community while reinforcing Trump’s policies.
