President Biden Bolsters Reelection Campaign with New Hires

President Joe Biden is expanding his reelection campaign team with the addition of three key individuals. In a move to strengthen his campaign efforts, Biden announced the hiring of former Rep. Cedric Richmond as campaign co-chair, former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark Rufus Gifford as finance chair of Biden-Harris 2024, and Chris Korge, the DNC National Finance Chair, as finance chair of the Biden Victory Fund. These appointments come as the Biden campaign aims to ramp up its operations following a modest start and recent fundraising success.

Since announcing his reelection bid in April, the Biden campaign has maintained a lean operation, employing just four individuals: campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez, principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks, spokesperson Kevin Munoz, and general counsel Maury Riggan. However, with the unveiling of a $72 million fundraising haul in the second quarter in collaboration with the DNC, the campaign is now expanding its team.

Despite raising less money than his predecessors during the same period, President Biden currently holds a larger cash reserve than former President Barack Obama did at this point in his reelection cycle. This financial advantage can be attributed in part to the efficient and cost-effective nature of the campaign’s operations thus far.

Campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure endorsements, unify support, and raise funds across the country. She highlighted the team’s innovative fundraising strategies and its commitment to providing the necessary resources for a successful reelection campaign in 2024.

With the inclusion of experienced individuals like Cedric Richmond, Rufus Gifford, and Chris Korge, the Biden campaign aims to build upon its early momentum and capitalize on the support of the Biden-Harris coalition. By expanding its talent pool, the campaign seeks to bolster its fundraising efforts and secure the necessary resources to achieve victory in the upcoming election.

In summary, President Biden’s decision to strengthen his reelection campaign with key hires reflects his commitment to building a robust and well-resourced team. As the campaign gains momentum and support, the addition of seasoned professionals will play a pivotal role in advancing the Biden-Harris coalition’s goals for the 2024 election.
