No Labels, a centrist organization, remains undeterred in its pursuit of a unity ticket for the 2024 presidential election, despite Senator Joe Manchin’s recent announcement that he will not run. National co-chair Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis stated on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” that the organization is in talks with several exceptional leaders, with an announcement regarding ballot access for a unity ticket expected in the coming weeks.
No Labels aims to present a bipartisan unity ticket featuring both a Republican and a Democrat. While Manchin was initially considered a potential candidate, his decision not to run has led the organization to explore other possibilities. Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, another potential candidate, has chosen to run for an open Senate seat instead.
Chavis addressed the challenges raised by co-host Michael Steele regarding the difficulty of winning the fall election as a centrist organization. Despite this, Chavis emphasized that No Labels has qualified for the November ballot in 16 states and is actively working to secure ballot access in all 50 states.
The organization, led by national co-chairs Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis and former North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, along with founding chair Joe Lieberman and ballot integrity project director Jay Nixon, aims to bring together Republicans, Democrats, and independents in a time of national uncertainty.
Chavis, a respected civil rights activist and former executive director of the NAACP, urged caution against speculation about the upcoming election, emphasizing the prevailing uncertainty in the nation.
As the organization pushes forward with its bipartisan approach, No Labels appears poised to play a role in shaping the political landscape for the 2024 presidential election.
