At the recent Jewish Coalition Conference in Las Vegas, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley delivered a speech critical of former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy approach. While acknowledging Trump’s positive contributions, such as abandoning the Iran nuclear deal and brokering the Abraham Accords, Haley expressed concerns about Trump’s recent remarks on Hezbollah and his past praise for adversaries like North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and China’s President Xi Jinping.

Haley, who served as the ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump administration, emphasized the importance of understanding the threats faced by the United States and criticized Republicans, including Trump, who questioned support for Ukraine and, she argued, potentially jeopardized future support for Israel. She questioned Trump’s ability to discern between friends and enemies, stating that such discernment was crucial for a leader in the Oval Office.

While praising Trump’s past efforts, Haley challenged the audience to consider what Trump’s future actions might entail, emphasizing the need for clarity and unwavering commitment to American interests in the face of global challenges.

Haley’s direct critique of Trump stands out in the context of the 2024 GOP candidates. Despite Trump’s influence, Haley has gained traction in recent polls, securing the third position behind Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Her speech underscores her firm stance on foreign policy and her determination to hold leaders accountable, regardless of party affiliation.
