Mark Paoletta to Partner with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency”

President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Mark Paoletta, a seasoned attorney and former official in the Trump administration, will take on a key role in the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This department, led by billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, aims to cut government bureaucracy and eliminate wasteful spending.

Paoletta’s Track Record in Government and Law

Paoletta, who previously served as general counsel for the Office of Management and Budget, has been a staunch advocate of fiscal conservatism and smaller government. Trump praised him as a “brilliant and tenacious lawyer” who advanced his agenda in the first term.

  • DOGE’s Mission: With Paoletta’s expertise, the department seeks to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in federal agencies, combatting what Trump called “anti-American spending.”
  • Justice Department Policies: Paoletta is also working with the Trump transition team to develop proposed reforms for the DOJ, a department he has criticized as being overly partisan.

Paoletta’s Connections to Clarence Thomas

A close friend of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Paoletta has been an outspoken defender of Thomas, calling him “our greatest living American.” He co-authored a book on Thomas and represented Thomas’ wife, Virginia “Ginny” Thomas, during her testimony before the January 6 committee.

Challenges and Vision for the Future

Paoletta’s role in DOGE is expected to be polarizing, with Republicans lauding his efforts to streamline government while Democrats raise concerns about potential overreach or partisanship. Alongside Musk and Ramaswamy, Paoletta is expected to shape bold policies aimed at reducing federal overreach and promoting fiscal responsibility.

The newly created department signifies Trump’s push to revolutionize government structure, making efficiency and accountability a central focus of his administration.
