On Wednesday, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, issued a stern warning regarding the ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip. Iran, which supports Hamas in Gaza and various militias across the region, emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Amirabdollahian, during a press conference in Ankara, cautioned that if rapid attacks by the United States and Israel persist, there will be severe consequences.
The recent weeks have witnessed strikes by the United States and Israel against Iranian-backed militias in the broader region, prompted by what they described as unprovoked attacks. These developments have heightened concerns that the Gaza conflict could potentially escalate into a wider regional conflict.
Amirabdollahian, while standing alongside his Turkish counterpart, did not provide specific details about Iran’s plans. He made it clear that Iran supports Hamas but was not involved in the recent attack by the militants on Israel. Both Iran and Turkey have condemned Israel’s subsequent bombardment of Gaza.
Amirabdollahian also mentioned the upcoming visit of Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, to Turkey, indicating that it is on the agenda.
