House Democrats Ramp Up Ground Game Following Biden’s Exit

In the wake of President Joe Biden’s decision to end his reelection campaign and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, House Democrats have reported a substantial boost in their ground game efforts. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced that its staff and volunteers knocked on more than 377,700 doors in August, surpassing the total number of doors knocked in the previous three months combined.

Record Voter Outreach in August

The DCCC revealed that August saw a particularly high level of voter engagement, with 104,000 doors knocked in the final week of the month alone, marking the most active week of the election cycle so far. In addition to door-knocking, the committee also made 845,500 phone calls throughout August, again exceeding the total for May, June, and July combined.

Enthusiasm Surge Post-Biden Decision

The surge in ground game activity comes amidst a broader wave of enthusiasm among House Democrats following Biden’s decision and Harris’s official campaign launch. This renewed energy has also translated into a fundraising boost, with the DCCC noting increased contributions since last month’s convention. The campaign arm credits this enthusiasm and the effectiveness of their voter outreach efforts as key factors that will drive their success in the upcoming November elections.

DCCC’s Confidence in Voter Engagement Strategy

Viet Shelton, a spokesperson for the DCCC, emphasized the importance of the ground game in connecting with voters. “House Democrats are seeing an incredible amount of energy and enthusiasm across the country, and it’s going to power our victory in November,” Shelton said. He expressed confidence that as more voters hear the Democrats’ message, the likelihood of electoral success increases.

Mobilizing for November Success

With the November elections approaching, House Democrats are betting on their expanded voter outreach efforts to secure victories across the country. The party’s campaign arm is leveraging the momentum gained from Biden’s endorsement of Harris to galvanize volunteers and strengthen connections with voters nationwide.
