Trump Jr. to Attend Business Event in Romania

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, is scheduled to visit Romania on April 28, 2025, just six days before the country holds the first round of its controversial presidential election. Trump Jr. will participate in a business event called Trump Business Vision 2025. However, he will not have private meetings or public engagements with government officials during his visit, according to a source familiar with the matter.

In addition to Romania, Trump Jr. is expected to visit other countries in Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, and Bulgaria, as part of his regional trip.

Romanian Election Controversy and Trump Jr.’s Criticism

Romania’s 2024 presidential election has been marred by controversy. The first round, originally scheduled for November 2024, was annulled by the Romanian Constitutional Court due to concerns about potential Russian interference. The second round of voting, planned for December 2024, was also canceled.

Trump Jr. had previously expressed strong disapproval of the court’s decision, calling it a “Soros/Marxist attempt” to undermine the electoral process. His comments were directed at what he perceived as an effort to block pro-Russian candidate Călin Georgescu, who had been challenging centrist candidate Elena Lasconi. Trump Jr.’s statement added fuel to the ongoing political debate, as he criticized the court’s actions in relation to the election outcome.

Presidential Election Timing and Uncertainty

Romania is now set to hold the first round of its delayed presidential election on May 4, 2025, with a runoff scheduled for May 18. The election’s legitimacy has been questioned by critics, including Trump Jr., who remains vocal about his concerns over the country’s political landscape. His visit to Romania comes at a time of heightened political tension in the region, with many eyes on how the election will unfold.
