In a recent statement to Newsmax, Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican from Tennessee, voiced concerns over the reluctance of Congress to make public the flight logs of Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet, known as the Lolita Express. Burchett suggested that a significant number of lawmakers might be “compromised” in this regard, potentially explaining the lack of transparency on the matter.
Lolita Express and Allegations
Epstein’s private jet, the Lolita Express, has been at the center of allegations related to child sex trafficking. Flight records suggest that it was used to transport young women to Epstein’s private island and residences worldwide. Notable figures, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, Bill Gates, and Kevin Spacey, are reported to have been on board the aircraft.
Lack of Transparency and Calls for Subpoenas
Burchett’s remarks come amid growing calls for the release of Lolita Express’ flight records. A New York court recently announced its intention to disclose the names of 177 individuals associated with Epstein, including victims, recruiters, and friends. The move is expected to shed light on the extent of Epstein’s network.
Push for Subpoenas
Both Rep. Tim Burchett and Sen. Marsha Blackburn, both Republicans from Tennessee, have been actively advocating for the subpoena of Epstein’s flight logs. Burchett criticized the lack of bipartisan effort on this matter, emphasizing the importance of addressing sex trafficking concerns, particularly involving minors.
Bipartisan Concerns and Allegations of Stonewalling
Burchett emphasized that the issue of obtaining access to the flight logs should not be a partisan one and urged Republicans to take leadership in addressing concerns related to sex trafficking. Sen. Marsha Blackburn had previously attempted to subpoena the flight records, accusing Senate Democrats, including Committee Chairman Dick Durbin, of obstructing the effort.
In light of the upcoming release of Epstein’s associates’ names, the controversy surrounding Lolita Express and the hesitance within Congress to unveil the flight logs continue to fuel discussions on the alleged connections of influential figures to Epstein’s activities.
