Amidst the ongoing conflict, Ukraine reports multiple civilian casualties as Russian forces persist in shelling various areas across the country. The latest incidents have led to deaths and injuries, raising concerns about the humanitarian impact of the conflict.

Civilian Casualties in Multiple Locations

In the town of Nikopol, Russian forces shelled the area surrounding Ukraine’s largest nuclear plant. A man lost his life due to the shelling, causing concern about potential radiation incidents as the attacks continue near the plant.

Tragedy struck the central Ukrainian hometown of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Kryvyi Rih, where a 60-year-old man died after a Russian missile hit an industrial facility. His wife sustained severe shrapnel injuries, and the same location faced additional missile strikes overnight, resulting in a fire that was extinguished by morning.

Further south, in Ukraine’s Kherson region, another civilian lost their life, with one more injured due to “mass shelling” by Russian forces. These attacks involved mortars, artillery, tanks, drones, and multiple-rocket launchers, targeting residential areas in the region.

In the front-line city of Avdiivka, in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, one civilian was wounded as a result of Russian shelling. Avdiivka has been a focal point of conflict between Russian and Ukrainian forces in recent weeks.

Russian Offensive Near Avdiivka

Russian forces initiated a new offensive north of Avdiivka, securing minor gains, as reported by the Institute for the Study of War. Despite facing substantial losses, Russian military command remains committed to offensive operations in the area. Ukrainian authorities claim to have damaged and destroyed numerous Russian tanks and armored vehicles in the fighting near Avdiivka, although these claims are yet to be independently verified.

In the northeastern Kharkiv region, a civilian man was hospitalized after Russian shelling struck two village homes near Kupiansk. Russian forces have been pressing an offensive to reclaim territory in this region.

Reports of Ukrainian Children’s Release

Amidst the ongoing conflict, four Ukrainian children who were released from Russian captivity have been reunited with their families. These children were captured by occupying Russian forces in southern and eastern Ukraine. Concerns about the deportation of Ukrainian children have been rising since the conflict began, with the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s children’s rights commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova, on charges of abducting children from Ukraine. Kremlin-allied Belarus has also reported children arriving from Ukraine’s occupied territories, ostensibly for “health recuperation programs.”
