In the final quarter of 2023, President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, along with the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and joint-fundraising committees, secured an impressive $97 million, marking a significant fundraising achievement. This total surpasses the funds raised by Biden’s most recent Democratic predecessor but falls behind former President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign.
While Trump and the Republican National Committee collected over $154 million in the last quarter of 2019, Biden and the DNC’s $97 million haul reflects a strong financial backing for the upcoming election. Comparatively, during the fourth quarter of his 2011 reelection campaign, former President Barack Obama and the DNC raised $68 million. Biden’s team highlighted its current cash on hand, amounting to $117 million.
The campaign’s ability to maintain a substantial reserve is attributed to strategic financial management, with early frugality and careful spending. In recent months, there has been an increase in staffing and expenditures, particularly on television advertisements.
Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s campaign manager, characterized the fundraising figure as a “historic haul” and emphasized the significance of the upcoming election, stating, “Our democracy and hard-fought basic rights and freedoms are on the line in 2024, and these numbers prove that the American people know the stakes and are taking action early to help defeat the extreme MAGA Republican agenda again.”
The Biden campaign reported a broad base of support, with more than 520,000 contributors in the last quarter, and 97 percent of donations being less than $200. The campaign held 39 fundraisers, and over 130,000 donors contribute monthly. Additionally, a competition offering a chance to meet with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris contributed over $3 million to the fundraising efforts.
Former President Trump, a key figure in the upcoming political landscape, has not yet disclosed the amount raised during the same period.
It’s important to note that this news is reported without bias and is intended to provide an overview of the fundraising achievements of President Biden’s reelection campaign.
