In a devastating incident, Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed following a collision with a container ship, resulting in the presumed deaths of six construction workers. The incident occurred as the crew was engaged in work on the bridge’s span over the Patapsco River.

According to Jeffrey Pritzker, executive vice president of Brawner Builders, the company employing the workers, the collapse occurred suddenly, leaving one worker hospitalized and six others missing and presumed dead. Despite ongoing efforts, the bodies of the workers have not yet been recovered due to the depth of the water and the time elapsed since the tragic event.

Fellow construction worker Jesus Campos expressed deep concern for his missing colleagues, recalling their presence on the bridge during breaks and in their trucks when the collapse took place. Campos highlighted the emotional toll of the incident, emphasizing the uncertainty and fear experienced by those familiar with the work environment.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community and raised questions about bridge safety and maritime regulations. As investigations into the cause of the collapse continue, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of workers and preventing similar incidents in the future.
