Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has publicly announced her support for former President Donald Trump’s 2024 White House bid. This declaration marks her first public comments on the election since she exited the Republican presidential primary over two months ago. Haley, who also served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, stated her endorsement during a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C.
Haley acknowledged that while she has had disagreements with Trump’s policies, she believes President Joe Biden’s tenure has been detrimental. “Trump has not been perfect on policies important to me, but President Joe Biden has been a catastrophe,” she said.
In her remarks, Haley expressed gratitude to her supporters from the Republican primary and encouraged Trump to reach out to these voters. “Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that,” Haley added.
Haley’s endorsement is significant as it could influence her primary supporters to back Trump in the general election.
