Florida Democrat Launches PAC to Counter Conservative School Board Influence

Jennifer Jenkins, a Brevard County school board member, announced the launch of “Educated. We Stand,” a political action committee (PAC) aimed at countering conservative influence on school boards nationwide. Jenkins, who previously unseated a co-founder of the conservative group Moms for Liberty, is spearheading this initiative to support and elect school board members who oppose far-right educational policies.

The new PAC intends to challenge conservative efforts to restrict educational content, change curricula, and limit educators’ autonomy. These efforts include recent laws in Florida restricting the use of pronouns that don’t align with assigned birth sex and limiting lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Jenkins emphasized the importance of preserving academic freedom, inclusive education, and protecting educators from political agendas. The PAC aims to provide financial and campaign support to school board candidates who advocate for comprehensive, fact-based education.

“Educated. We Stand” is positioned against a well-organized conservative movement that has successfully influenced school board elections, supported by groups like Moms for Liberty and political figures such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

This initiative highlights the growing national debate over educational policies, parental rights, and the role of political ideologies in shaping public education.
