Federal Authorities Raid Eric Adams’ Mayoral Residence

In a dramatic turn of events, federal agents raided Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, early Thursday morning. The raid followed the mayor’s indictment on federal criminal charges and is part of an ongoing investigation into potential foreign influence tied to his 2021 campaign.

Seizure of Electronic Device

During the raid, federal agents seized an electronic device from Mayor Adams. The FBI, known for conducting early-morning operations to secure evidence, made the seizure as part of the broader probe. Mayor Adams’ legal team, led by attorney Alex Spiro, criticized the raid, claiming that Adams would have willingly surrendered the device if asked, calling the operation a “spectacle.”

Adams Responds to the Indictment

In a video released Wednesday night, Mayor Adams addressed the indictment and expressed frustration, suggesting that the investigation aims to tarnish his credibility. Despite calls from some political rivals for his resignation, Adams remains steadfast in his position, denying all allegations and vowing to defend himself in court.

Investigation Focuses on Ties to Turkey

The investigation, spearheaded by U.S. Attorney Damian Williams of the Southern District of New York, reportedly centers on Adams’ connections to Turkey. This has raised concerns about foreign influence on his mayoral campaign. Adams, however, maintains that the charges are unfounded and has refused to step down from office.
