President Joe Biden has reiterated his stance regarding Israel’s potential invasion of Rafah during a recent call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as reported by the White House. Biden emphasized his clear position on the matter, which he previously defined as a “red line” for his administration. This comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, including a recent Iranian missile attack on Israel.

The White House has indicated that Israeli leaders have assured U.S. officials that any potential invasion of Rafah will not proceed until the United States has had an opportunity to share its perspectives and concerns. Additionally, discussions between the allies have been complicated by recent events, including the Iranian attack and scheduled talks in Washington.

During the call, Biden and Netanyahu also discussed ongoing efforts to secure the release of hostages and achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Furthermore, they addressed plans to increase the delivery of humanitarian assistance into Gaza, including the opening of new northern crossings starting this week.

According to White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, progress has been made in meeting these commitments, with Israel taking steps to fulfill President Biden’s requests. However, challenges remain in delivering aid to northern areas.

The situation in the Middle East remains fluid, with tensions between Israel and Hamas persisting. The international community continues to monitor developments closely, with a focus on diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and address humanitarian needs in Gaza.

As the situation evolves, President Biden’s administration remains engaged in dialogue with Israeli leaders and other stakeholders to ensure the protection of civilians and promote stability in the region.
